We will roll out 24-hour economy soon – Mahama assures

President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that processes are advancing in Parliament to formally establish structures for the proposed 24-hour economy initiative.

Speaking during a visit to the Ghana Publishing Company, the President said a committee tasked with reviewing the framework for the policy has completed its work, clearing the way for parliamentary consideration.

“I’m happy to note that the committee has finished considering it and it’s supposed to go onto the floor of Parliament to set up the 24-Hour Authority, which would then open the way for implementation and registration of all the businesses that will be involved in the 24-hour economy initiative,” he stated.

President Mahama explained that the creation of the authority is expected to provide an institutional basis for coordinating activities under the policy, including identifying and registering businesses that will operate within the framework.

During the same visit, the President also spoke about efforts to position the Ghana Publishing Company to benefit from government contracts, particularly in the education sector.

“I’m happy to know that the minister has lobbied the Minister of Education and the Minister of Finance so that when we start printing textbooks and learning materials, Ghana Publishing should get a big chunk of that contract,” he said.
