Moroccan FA threatens legal action over Senegal’s actions during AFCON final

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has announced that it will file a formal complaint regarding the withdrawal of the Senegalese National Team from the final match venue ahead of the Moroccan national team.

The complaints will also encompass incidents following the referee’s award of a valid penalty kick, which was unanimously confirmed by all officials.

To the Football Federation, these events significantly affected the normal course of the match and the morale of their players, and therefore, Senegal will have to be sanctioned.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football has initiated disciplinary measures against Senegal for their conduct at the final of the 2025 AFCON.

A statement issued on January 19, 2026, read “The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.

CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers.

CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty”.
