A police officer, Kwarku Stephen, has been shot dead, while another officer is in critical condition following a violent armed robbery attack on the Widnaba–Zebilla Road in the Upper East Region.
The incident occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026, around 8:00 pm, as the officers were returning from official duty in Widnaba.
According to eyewitness accounts, the officers encountered armed robbers, who opened fire, killing one officer on the spot and leaving the other with life-threatening injuries.
The Zebilla Police Commander is yet to issue an official statement on the attack, as fear and panic spread among residents in the affected communities.
