The law is the law – Amidu backs Mahama on gazetted Bawku Naba

Martin Amidu has expressed full agreement with President John Dramani Mahama’s declaration that the gazetted Bawku Naba remains Naba Abugrago Azoka.

The President told chiefs at Jubilee House that he could not allow sentiment to override the law.

Amidu says that position is constitutionally sound.

“I entirely agree with President John Dramani Mahama that no President acting in accordance with his oath of office can allow personal feelings to influence the implementation of the law,” Amidu stated in an opinion piece available to MyNewsGh.

He referenced Mahama’s earlier campaign comment that “there is no chieftaincy conflict because there is only one known king,” arguing that the legal status under the 1992 Constitution has always been clear.

For Amidu, enforcement of the existing legal framework is not optional, it is an obligation.

“The law is the law,” he emphasized, noting that executive authority must operate strictly within constitutional boundaries.
