Former Attorney-General and Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has raised concerns about the timing of President John Dramani Mahama’s position in connection with the Bawku mediation.
He questioned why enforcement of the constitutional status quo did onot occur earlier.
“President Mahama enforced the status quo during his previous tenure, so what went wrong this time round?” Amidu asked in an opinion piece available to MyNewsGh.
According to him, the President did not require a mediator’s report to understand the constitutional reality surrounding the Bawku chieftaincy.
He cautioned against shifting executive responsibility outside the framework of the 1992 Constitution.
In his view, constitutional clarity existed long before the mediation findings were presented.
