American rapper Lil Poppa has been reported dead.

He was 25. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said he was pronounced dead on the morning of February 18. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Lil Poppa began rapping at seven. In 2018, he gained wider attention with “Purple Hearts,” a song inspired by surviving a drive-by shooting.

His catalog includes “Love & War,” “Mind Over Matter” and “HAPPY TEARS,” along with projects such as Blessed, I Guess, Half Man Half Vamp, Hold That Thought and Almost Normal Again.

In a 2021 interview, he spoke about the messages from listeners who said his music helped them through difficult periods, noting that he understood the responsibility that came with that influence.

Representatives have not released further details.
