SONA 2026: Over Ghc600 million recovered – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has recovered more than GHS 600 million as of December 2025, describing it as a significant step in the fight against corruption.

“As of December 2025, EOCO had recovered more than GHS 600 million,” he told Parliament during his State of the Nation Address (SONA). He added that the Office had investigated 462 cases, with 15 currently under prosecution.

The President also disclosed that EOCO dismantled transnational car-jacking syndicates and recovered 29 luxury vehicles in the process, signaling what he called a determined effort to protect public resources and clamp down on organised crime.

“Government remains resolute that corruption will not be tolerated, regardless of status or political affiliation,” Mahama said.

He stressed that the Attorney General’s Office would continue to apply both criminal prosecution and non-conviction-based asset recovery mechanisms to ensure that stolen funds are returned for national development.

According to him, the focus is not just on punishment but on retrieving public assets and restoring confidence in state institutions.
