I understand the impatience – Mahama speaks on holding officials accountable

President John Dramani Mahama has acknowledged the growing impatience among Ghanaians who want swift accountability for officials accused of abusing public trust.

“I understand that a large majority of Ghanaians are impatient to see those who abused their trust in office held to account,” he said during his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

While affirming that corruption will not be tolerated, Mahama emphasized that justice must be pursued carefully and lawfully.

“I may be as impatient as everyone else to see justice done,” he admitted, “but painstaking investigations must be conducted.”

He assured citizens that the Attorney General’s Office would continue to deploy both criminal prosecution and non-conviction-based asset recovery tools to retrieve stolen resources for national development.
