Frederick Kumi, known as Abu Trica, has had his key defence arguments dismissed by the Gbese District Court in his ongoing extradition case.
This means he’s on his way to the US to be tried.
The court ruled that claims of political persecution and entrapment were not supported by evidence, removing major objections raised to block his extradition. This clears the way for the process to move forward.
According to his lawyer, “The judge said we had not proven any political connection to the offence and that Abu needs to be extradited.”
The court, however, granted him 15 days to challenge the decision.
If no successful appeal is made within that period, the case will proceed to the next stage.
Kumi is wanted abroad over alleged involvement in online fraud schemes targeting victims.
He has denied the allegations, and his legal team is expected to decide on their next steps within the given timeframe.
