An uncompleted school building in Accra New Town has collapsed, in a new development where a structure being used by a group of worshippers as a makeshift church gave way during a Sunday service.
The incident happened around 1:00 p.m. on March 29 while members were inside the building, leaving several people trapped under the debris.
Emergency responders, supported by residents, are continuing rescue efforts to pull out those trapped. The number of casualties or injuries has not yet been confirmed.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the collapse, as concerns grow over the safety of unfinished structures in the area.
Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has arrived at the scene to assess the situation and monitor the ongoing rescue operation.
