Vice President of policy think tank Imani Africa lawyer Kofi Bentil has described as a joke an awards scheme dubbed “Ministers of State Awards” held yesterday to recognize the outstanding work of some ministers of the current NDC government.
For him, there is some dysfunction given that there are some ministers are openly bickering over issues that should be handled privately at the cabinet level, and now some are busy getting awards at a time when Accra is getting flooded.
Mr Bentil wonders where the Chief of Staff and the President are in the midst of these happenings.
“What joke is ‘Ministers of State Awards’”? There’s some dysfunction! Where is the Chief of Staff and Mr. President?
Some ministers are fighting over issues which should be handled in Cabinet, and others are busy procuring awards? As Accra floods. What’s going on?

A Ministers of State Awards organized for deserving ministers has been criticized as questionable and happening at the wrong time, given the disaster that has struck Accra.
Ministers who availed themselves to receive the awards have also been chastised for being insensitive and tone-deaf due to current happenings.
