United Party (UP) Director of Communications Solomon Owusu has dismissed suggestions that Alan Kyerematen should pursue a partnership with former NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, insisting that any discussions about political cooperation should begin from the opposite direction.
Speaking on Joy Prime, Owusu argued that it would make little sense for Alan Kyerematen to seek a running mate position under Dr. Bawumia after the NPP’s performance in the 2024 election.
Responding to a suggestion that Alan could approach Bawumia to form a joint ticket, Owusu said Dr. Bawumia, not Alan, would have more reason to initiate such a conversation.
“What would have helped Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia rather is to go to Alan and say, ‘Mr. Kyerematen, I forced my way to becoming a flag bearer and the Ghanaian disappointed me by giving me 41.74%. I have lost it.
“Ghanaians don’t have confidence in me. I want to come under your banner as a running mate,’” he said.
Owusu maintained that Alan Kyerematen has no basis to seek a subordinate role in any political arrangement involving Bawumia.
“Why must Alan Kyerematen go and beg for a spot when a loser is not going to win any election in this country?” he asked.
