Former NPP MP, Hon Collins Amankwaa has alleged that internal party figures, including Chairman Wontumi, Cecilia Dapaah and John Boadu, played roles in arrangements that affected his chances in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in Manhyia North.
He said the internal contest, which involved Akwasi Konadu as his main competitor, was influenced by decisions taken ahead of the vote.
According to him, he was invited to a meeting at Kokomlemle in Accra where he was informed about the structure of polling stations for the primaries.
“I was told that the Electoral Commission had created 28 polling stations,” he said in a video available to MyNewsGh.
“I was also informed that Akwasi Konadu was allocated 26 of them to fill with people of his choice.”
He further claimed that he was given additional information suggesting that the arrangement allowed his opponent greater flexibility in selecting voters for the exercise.
Amankwaa said the situation placed him at a disadvantage in the contest, which he eventually lost to Akwasi Konadu.
