Electricity tariffs up 3.49%, water prices rise 0.85% from July 1

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, PURC, has announced new utility tariffs effective July 1, 2026, with electricity prices increasing by 3.49 percent and water tariffs rising by 0.85 percent.

In a statement issued on June 22, the Commission said the adjustments were made under its quarterly tariff review mechanism.

PURC said the review considered factors including the cedi’s exchange rate against the US dollar, inflation, fuel costs and the electricity generation mix.

According to the Commission, the adjustments are intended to maintain the financial viability of utility providers while supporting reliable service delivery.
