Former MP recalls push for structural reforms in Subin since 2015

Former Subin MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary hopeful Eugene Boakye Antwi says the party’s long-term success depends on strong structures rather than individuals.

He argued that political parties that endure are built on systems and organisation.

“The strongest political parties everywhere are not built on personalities but structures,” he said.

Boakye Antwi revealed that he had promoted the same approach within the Subin Constituency several years ago, although some party members opposed the idea.

“I started championing this agenda in Subin, and people accused me of sidelining and eliminating them in 2015,” he recalled in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

The former MP also stressed that the party’s immediate objective should be preparing for the 2028 general election.

“Every politician’s duty is to focus on winning 2028,” he said.

He added that activities that do not contribute to that goal should not be prioritised, citing the challenges political parties face after electoral defeat.

“If that is not part of the agenda, then whatever you are doing is not necessary because you lose an election, the frustration, the debt and the pain it brings to party members,” he stated.
