A teacher from Nigeria named Mariam Usman has reportedly died days after she was beaten by the father of a boy she disciplined.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident began after the 22-year old teacher disciplined a student in school.
The student’s father allegedly confronted her afterwards, and the encounter reportedly turned violent.
The report states that Mariam Usman sustained injuries during the alleged assault and later passed away.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine any legal responsibility.
The case has also renewed discussions about the safety of teachers while carrying out disciplinary duties in schools.
