NPP Akosua Manu has mentioned that findings contained in a World Bank report support her claim that work under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development, GARID, Project stalled despite funding remaining available.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, July 2, she compared the implementation of the project under successive administrations.
“Between the two administrations, one secured the funding and ensured that about 40 percent of the work was completed, while the other sat idle with funds reportedly still available in the account,” she said.
She maintained that her comments were based on documented findings rather than personal opinion.
“These are not my claims, they are findings contained in the World Bank report.”
Her comments follow the June 29 floods that affected several parts of Accra and renewed public discussion over long-term flood mitigation measures in the capital.
