Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante says the Black Stars believe they can win the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they prepare to face Colombia in the Round of 32.
The four-time African champions are playing in the World Cup for the fifth time. They have reached the knockout stage for the first time since 2010 and will face Colombia at Kansas City Stadium on Saturday.
The Coventry City striker said the players have strong belief in themselves, even though many people doubted them.
“I want to win the tournament. We have this opportunity, and I don’t take it lightly,” the Coventry City striker told ESPN.
“I believe in my team. I believe that together, we can go as far as we want. I know a lot of people wrote us off early.
“A lot of people might laugh now, but all you can do is push for it, and we’ll see what happens.
“The overall feeling is that we want to go and win the game and make a statement for our fans back home. We want to make a new dawn of really going for it in tournaments and being the powerhouses that we know we are,” he added.
