Argentina President Javier Milei has praised captain Lionel Messi after Argentina’s 1-0 defeat to Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Mitre, Milei said Messi has given great happiness to Argentina and football fans around the world.
He said of Messi, “Anyone who has been at the highest professional level for over 20 years deserves admiration.
“Not only that, but he has also brought immense joy to all Argentines and everyone who appreciates great football.”
Messi, 39, scored eight goals and provided four assists for Argentina during the World Cup.
The Inter Miami forward will be 43 years old when the next World Cup begins in 2030.
