Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season with the signing of Hohoe United captain Usman Safianu on a three-year contract.
The 24-year-old defender joins the Tarkwa-based club as a free agent following Hohoe United’s relegation from the Ghana Premier League at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Born on April 16, 2001, Safianu is capable of playing as both a full-back and centre-back. He scored three goals during the 2025/26 season and was one of Hohoe United’s standout performers.
The move highlights Medeama’s ambition as they prepare to defend their Ghana Premier League title and represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
Head coach Ibrahim Tanko is continuing to strengthen his squad, with Safianu’s versatility, experience and leadership expected to add depth to a defence that conceded just 28 goals in 34 league matches last season.
The defender will now compete for a place in Medeama’s starting lineup as the club prepares for a demanding campaign on both domestic and continental fronts.
