There’s a chair in our house that nobody sits on – Abigail mourns late husband Samuel Aboagye

The widow of the late Deputy Director-General of NADMO, Samuel Aboagye, has emotionally revealed the impact of losing her husband.

According to her, the family continues to live with his absence one year after the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash.

Addressing the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service, Mrs Abigail Aboagye said the past year had been difficult for her and their two daughters.

“I will not stand here and pretend the year has been easy. Grief does not get smaller. You simply grow around it,” she said.

She described how her husband’s absence is still felt in their home.

“There’s a chair in our house that nobody sits on. Birthdays came anyway. Christmas came anyway. And our girls still ask me questions I do not have good answers for,” she said.

Mrs Aboagye thanked President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, NADMO, the people of Obuasi and Adansi, and Ghanaians for supporting the bereaved families.

“Thank you. You held us up when we could not stand,” she said.

She ended her tribute by addressing her late husband directly.

“Our girls are well. They have your love, and I am keeping my promise. I am taking care. Rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord. Until we meet again, you will always be my forever,” she said.
