Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has urged the majority in Parliament not to block their calls for a probe into the GoldBod losses.
He says this will be the second time the minority is summoning the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod and is praying that the Majority in Parliament makes way for him to appear before the August house.
Addressing the press on losses made by GoldBod, the Minority leader recalled how the majority used their numbers to prevent an earlier summons indicating that for the sake of accountability and good governance, the CEO of GoldBod must be made to come to the August house to answer questions.
“If GoldBod says they are ready for a debate, they should tell the new majority leader, Hon Agalga for him to have an understanding so that they will not use their 189 to block his summons. We are also calling on the Speaker not to use technicalities to push their motion aside.
We the minority, will not relent on this. The GoldBod has thrown a challenge that it is ready to debate this issue. If indeed it is ready, then we propose to the majority: don’t stop us the second time. Don’t use your 189 to vote against an invitation to GoldBod for a probe into what accounted for the 22 billion losses,” he said.
