Northampton Town manager told me he feels I can impact the team – Nathan Opoku

Nathan Opoku is looking forward to starting a new chapter at Northampton Town after completing his move from Leicester City.

The 25-year-old striker has joined the Cobblers for an undisclosed fee and signed a three-year contract. He is the club’s 10th new signing of the summer transfer window.

Opoku believes the move comes at the right time in his career. He was also convinced to join after speaking with manager Chris Hogg about his role in the team.

“I feel this is the time for a new challenge for me. I spoke to the manager here, he told me how he feels I can impact the team and I believe I am good fit for what he is trying to do here and that’s why I chose to come to Northampton.”

The Ghanaian youth international believes his previous experience in League Two will help him settle quickly.

Opoku spent last season on loan at Newport County, where he scored six goals in 16 starts and finished as the club’s top scorer.

“I know what League Two is all about. I had a good spell on loan at Newport last season and hopefully I can hit the ground running here.”
