Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor has named a 22-man squad for Friday’s 2026 Democracy Cup clash against Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
The two Ghanaian giants will meet at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on Friday, August 28, 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
Kapor has selected three goalkeepers for the game: Benjamin Asare, Sheriff Shuab and new signing Vincent Anane.
The defensive group includes Emmanuel Amankwah, Ransford Mensah, Abdul Aziz, Prince Amevor, Kelvin Osei Asibey, Ali Mohamed and Gordern Cudjo.
Seven midfielders have also been included in the squad, with Caleb Koranteng, Raphael Amponsah, Abdul Karim, Ebenezer Amoh, Kwasi Asmah, Mohamed Hussein and George Paaku making the trip.
The five forwards are Martin Kakari, Henry Kwaku Boateng, Alex Benson, John Antwi and Abdul Makaiba Kadir.
According to a proposal submitted to Parliament and sighted by GhanaSportsPage, the winner of the Democracy Cup is expected to travel to Antelope Valley, California, in May 2027 to play against a partner team as part of the BABA Festival.
The winner of Friday’s clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will therefore have the opportunity to represent the Democracy Cup in the United States.
