Finnish influencer Olivia Oras dies days after liposuction procedure at private clinic

Olivia Oras, a 27-year-old Finnish influencer and entrepreneur, died on September 3 after losing consciousness while undergoing liposuction at a private clinic in Helsinki.

According to Finnish investigative outlet Yle MOT, Oras lost consciousness as anaesthesia was being administered during the procedure. Doctors rushed her to Helsinki University Hospital, where she later died.

Her death has now prompted a criminal investigation in Finland.

Police opened the investigation on September 9 after Oras’ parents filed a criminal complaint. They claim negligence surrounding the procedure contributed to their daughter’s death. The investigation is ongoing.

Oras first became known in Finland as a teenager after building a following on Instagram. She later appeared in the 2016 documentary The Perfect Selfie.

She went on to work in the technology sector, serving as Head of Community at Ikon AI and Chief Marketing Officer at PALL0.

Oras also founded Oras Respiratus Ry after her father was diagnosed with a pulmonary illness. The nonprofit supports research into pulmonary disease, a cause she continued to champion.
