Black Maidens to face Nigeria in WAFU Zone B U-17 opener

The Black Maidens will begin their WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Championship campaign against rivals Nigeria after being drawn in Group B.

Ghana will also face Togo and Niger in the group.

The tournament will also serve as the qualifier for the 2027 U-17 Girls Africa Cup of Nations. The teams will compete for places at next year’s continental tournament.

Hosts Côte d’Ivoire will stage the competition, which is scheduled to begin on September 15, 2026.

The Black Maidens face a tough group, with Nigeria expected to provide a strong test because of their record in women’s youth football.

Togo and Niger will also be hoping to cause an upset and reach the next stage.

Ghana will enter the tournament with high hopes as they aim to qualify for the 2027 U-17 Girls Africa Cup of Nations.
