President John Dramani Mahama has stated that Ghana could have recorded economic growth of about 7% this year if not for the impact of global developments.
Mahama said the country was on course to make greater economic progress than last year, but external events have affected that outlook.
“We would have made more progress this year than even last year.
“I’m sure the growth would have hit 7%, but of course we live in this world and we can’t help but be affected,” he said.
The President made the comments during a citizens’ engagement as part of his tour of the Upper West Region.
He also pointed to the 2027 budget as an opportunity for government to address some of the issues requiring attention.
“There’s going to be the new budget 2027, and the budget hearings have currently started, and I’m sure that we’ll capture as many of the essential things that we need to capture as possible,” Mahama said.
