Sports Minister opens up on owing Black Queens outstanding bonuses

Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams says the Black Queens have no outstanding bonuses or per diems from the Pink Ladies Tournament or the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Adams made the statement on Thursday, September 17, 2026, when he appeared before Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports.

His comments came after members of the Black Queens had raised concerns about unpaid bonuses and allowances.

According to the Minister, all outstanding payments from the Pink Ladies Tournament have been settled. He also said all pre-camping payments for the team and officials had been made.

“The Black Queens have been paid all outstanding allowances in relation to the Pink Ladies Tournament, which was played earlier this year. For the Pink Ladies Tournament, they emerged victorious, so they have been paid everything that was due to them,” Adams said.

“All pre-camping payments have also been made to the team and officials. During the WAFCON tournament, they were paid all the per diems and bonuses due to them. So, currently, the Queens are not owed any per diems or bonuses.”

The Black Queens are now preparing for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament, which will take place from November 24 to December 5, 2026.

Ghana will face Ecuador, Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea in the preliminary phase as they continue their bid to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
