Jordan Ayew leaves Black Stars camp

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has left the Black Stars camp after a scan showed a problem with his knee.

Ayew arrived in Accra on Monday to join his international teammates ahead of Ghana’s upcoming matches.

However, the experienced forward underwent a scan on Tuesday morning after reporting a problem with his knee.

The scan confirmed an injury that is expected to rule the captain out of the upcoming matches.

Ayew has since spoken with head coach Carlos Queiroz and is expected to leave camp to begin his recovery.

His absence is another setback for Ghana after a difficult build-up to the matches.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia before playing Morocco in an international friendly.

Queiroz has already lost several key players from his squad.

Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo are among those unavailable, while experienced defender Baba Rahman has also withdrawn.
