Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Bells has revealed that his father, a former military officer, was kidnapped years ago and his family still does not know what happened to him.
Bells said the kidnappers initially demanded money but later abandoned the ransom request, telling the family they would keep his father in their camp.
“My dad was kidnapped years back. Currently, we do not know his current state. They requested for money, but later rejected the idea, and they said they were going to just keep him in the camp,” Bells said in an interview with Herodanielstv.
He said the incident happened before he turned 20 and remains a painful memory for him.
“I can remember when this happened, I was writing my second-semester exam when this call came through,” he said.
Bells also recalled feeling that the call announcing his father’s kidnapping could have been a final goodbye.
“Part of me feels like that was like a goodbye call,” he said.
However, he said the military later assured the family that there was no confirmation of his father’s death.
“The military said it wasn’t, that they would have known if something had happened to him because those people would have sent them the information,” he said.
Bells said the family continues to hold on to the hope that his father is still alive.
“So hopefully, we still have faith that he’s alive,” he added.
