I’d rather watch Nigerian movies than watch Black Stars play – Titus Glover

Former Tema East MP and Greater Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has said watching the Black Stars has become so painful that he would rather spend his time watching Nigerian movies.

Titus Glover, speaking on Angel FM, said the national team has become too lacklustre for him to continue wasting his time watching their matches.

“I won’t waste my time watching Black Stars matches. The team has become so lacklustre that it is painful watching,” he said.

He added: “I would rather watch Nigerian movies than sit down and watch the Black Stars play.”

Titus Glover said the state of the national team reminded him of a comment made by then-opposition leader John Dramani Mahama, who once argued that the Black Stars’ struggles reflected the condition of the country.

“What is happening to the Black Stars is a reflection of what is happening to the nation,” Mahama had said.

According to Titus Glover, that statement has now come back to haunt Mahama and his administration as the Black Stars continue to struggle.

“This same statement has caught up with Mahama and his administration,” he said.

Titus Glover said the team’s poor performances in recent World Cup and AFCON qualification campaigns have made the situation particularly frustrating for supporters.
