KNUST postpones 2026/2027 academic year reopening indefinitely

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has postponed the reopening of the university for the 2026/2027 academic year indefinitely due to the ongoing strike by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).

The university, in a statement issued by the Registrar’s Office on Friday, October 9, 2026, said the reopening, initially scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, would be delayed because the strike was affecting its operations and administration.

“This decision has become necessary in view of the ongoing strike action by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and its impact on the University’s effective operations and administration,” the statement said.

Management said it would announce a new reopening date in due course and urged students, parents and other stakeholders to take note of the development.

The university apologised for the inconvenience caused by the postponement and appealed for stakeholders’ understanding and cooperation.
