The Committee on Human Rights, chaired by Kumawu MP Ernest Yaw Anim, has condemned sexual abuse at Obuasi Senior High Technical School and called for the swift prosecution of the case.
The committee condemned the actions of the school’s headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai, citing Sections 2 and 13 of the Children’s Act, 1998, and Article 34 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The committee commended the Education Ministry and the Ghana Education Service for interdicting the headmaster and suspending another housemaster, as well as initiating a police investigation.
