Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng known popularly as A Plus wants EOCO to investigate the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
He believes that the international investigation that shook FIFA should reach Ghana’s FA to ensure that their finances are audited.
A Plus believes that Ghana football does not lack talent but rather, the lack of transparency is what is affecting the country’s football.
Making this position known in a social media post, he said “Look at what Shatta wale(shatta movement) and his Shatta Movement, as well as Sarkodie have achieved this year without government funding or backing from international organisations. Stonebwoy and SAMINI are next in line to make their mark.
Now, contrast that with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), an institution that has enjoyed substantial financial support from the government and international football bodies. Yet, in my opinion, its legacy is increasingly defined by scandals, allegations of favouritism in Black Stars selections, questionable visa arrangements, concerns over financial mismanagement and, above all, repeated heartbreak for Ghanaian football fans.
Kurt, you are my friend, and I hold you in high regard. But tell me, how do you feel watching these individuals achieve remarkable success with limited institutional support while you and your organisation, despite the enormous resources at your disposal, continue to fail woefully?
You are not a useless man. Far from it! But in my view, you are presiding over an institution that has become painfully ineffective, practically useless and profoundly disappointing.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) must urgently turn its attention to the GFA, subject its financial dealings to rigorous independent scrutiny and investigate any credible evidence of wrongdoing. The international investigations that shook FIFA should serve as a reminder that no football institution is above accountability.
Ghanaian football does not lack talent, passion or resources. What it desperately needs is transparency, responsible leadership and measurable results that justify the enormous public investment.
EOCO, ACT NOW!!”.
