The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will open its online portal from November 1 to 10 for persons seeking to be selected as its parliamentary candidates for the 2028 elections, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has announced.
Kodua said the exercise would allow interested persons to formally declare their intentions before undergoing training, capacity building and eligibility checks.
“The party will, from 1st November to 10th November, open our portal for any interested person who wants to be nominated to stand on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party to declare his or her interest,” he said in a press conference.
He explained that the training would help prospective candidates understand the responsibilities expected of them if selected to represent the party in Parliament.
“The rationale behind this exercise is to make sure that people who are aspiring to be selected as our parliamentary candidates are taken through a very vigorous training and capacity-building exercise,” Kodua said.
He added that the party would examine applicants to establish whether they met the requirements of the NPP constitution and Ghanaian law.
“As part of the processes of making sure that there is a free, fair, transparent process, the party also will check our prospective parliamentary candidates on whether or not, per our constitution, they indeed qualify to stand as or to be nominated as a parliamentary candidate,” he said.
Kodua said applicants would be required to pay an application fee of Ghc5,000 when submitting their applications through the online portal.
He described the exercise as a new step in the party’s preparations for selecting parliamentary candidates, with the November 1 to 10 period serving as the window for declaring interest.
