Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has said he hopes the players from his club are eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup so they can return early for pre-season training.
Mourinho made the comments while speaking on the BeastModeOn podcast.
Real Madrid have several players taking part in the tournament, including Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Aurelien Tchouameni, Antonio Rudiger and Marc Cucurella.
With many of those players expected to go deep into the competition, Mourinho could have less time to work with them before the new season begins.
“What am I looking forward to in the World Cup? I want Real Madrid players to lose.
“Because I want them back for pre-season with me in July!”
