Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says he has complete confidence in his players ahead of Ghana’s opening match against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 17.
The Group L match will be the first senior international meeting between Ghana and Panama. Both teams will be looking to start the tournament well in a group that also includes England and Croatia.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Queiroz said there are no guarantees in football and that results depend on what players do on the field.
“The final outcome of football is always a mystery. We never know because there is no formula that gives you success in football,” Queiroz said.
“It is what you have to do on the day and how committed you are during the game.”
The experienced Portuguese coach, who has managed at several World Cups, said players are the most important part of any team’s success.
“After all these years, to be honest with you, I have a strong belief that this is a game of players.”
“The moment we start the game, I count on my players and they are ready for that.”
