Ghanaian journalist Paul Adom-Otchere is of the firm belief that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is trying to be strategic, citing the recent Fiifi Kwetey’s press conference as a case study.
Speaking on Good Evening Ghana, monitored by MyNewsGh, the Adom-Otchere said the timing of the announcement stood out more than the content itself.
“Fiifi Kwetey has been making big announcements, and I’m excited about it,” he said. “People were calling me asking how I knew what he was going to announce. I didn’t know it would be in January.”
Adom-Otchere argued that the decision to hold the press conference was driven by media dynamics rather than coincidence.
“For the last three weeks, one side of the political conversation has dominated the media space.
In politics, that matters. If your opponent controls the narrative for weeks, public attention shifts to them,” he explained.
According to him, the press conference was a deliberate attempt to rebalance national discourse.
“I guess the PR decision was that Fiifi should hold a press conference so that there is a balance of conversation, balance of internal party dialogue, balance of political focus. That is a correct PR decision,” he said.
