Fred Tetteh, the Deputy Director of Research at the Electoral Commission, has denied claims by New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong alleging irregularities in the transportation of ballot papers ahead of the party’s presidential primary.
Speaking on Top Story, Mr. Tetteh said the allegations being circulated had no factual basis.
“There is no iota of truth in what has been being circulated. That’s what I can say for now,” he stated, responding directly to concerns raised by the NPP aspirant.
Kennedy Agyapong had earlier suggested that the movement of ballot materials for the internal election raised questions about the integrity of the process.
The EC, however, insists that preparations for the exercise have been completed and that all procedures are in line with established standards.
Mr. Tetteh emphasized that the Commission was fully prepared to supervise the primary.
“Everything is set for tomorrow. Everything is ready, all the officials are ready, and as I have been saying, the Commission will deliver a professional job tomorrow,” he said.
He added that the EC’s role would be carried out without bias and in strict adherence to its mandate.
“We will go into the elections, treat everything fairly, and undertake our responsibilities in light of integrity and in a transparent manner,” Mr. Tetteh noted.
