Government of Ghana has restored the name of Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport.
In a press release dated February 23, 2026, the Ministry of Transport stated, “The Government of Ghana has officially reverted the name of Kotoka International Airport to its original name, Accra International Airport.”
It added that “this change will not affect airport operations, safety standards, or international travel arrangements,” noting that within the records of the International Civil Aviation Organization the airport code has remained “ACC.”
The Ministry said updates will be made to official documents, signage, and digital platforms, and urged the public and stakeholders “to support and cooperate with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.”
