Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has announced that Monday, March 23, 2026, will be observed as an additional public holiday across the country.
In a statement issued to the general public, the minister explained that Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, 2026, have been designated as statutory public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid al-Fitr and Shaqq Day.
However, since March 21 falls on a Saturday, the President of the Republic has taken steps to ensure that the public still benefits from the holiday period.
“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument, in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, declared Monday, March 23, 2026, as an additional public holiday,” the statement said.
