The GFA is not a govt agency – Hadzide clarifies

Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Pius Enam Hadzide has sought to clarify the role of the Ghana Football Association, arguing that many people wrongly view the organisation as a state institution.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, Hadzide explained that football administration in Ghana falls primarily under the Ghana Football Association and not the government.

“Football is governed and superintended generally by the GFA,” he said.

He stressed that the association operates independently and should not be mistaken for a government agency.

“The Ghana Football Association is not an agency of state.

“The Ghana Football Association is an independent association of the various football teams across the country,” he clarified.

Hadzide noted that these clubs collectively form the association and give it the mandate to manage football affairs.

“They formed the Ghana Football Association and they manage football generally,” he explained.
