The family of late Apostle Kwadwo Safo says it does not recognise any claim by Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
In a statement issued on June 21, the family said Apostle Kwadwo Safo had initially named Israel Safo as his successor in 2017 but revoked that mandate in 2024 and removed him from the church’s succession framework.
According to the family, former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo was subsequently appointed Head of the Kwadwo Safo Family and made the principal representative of the family’s interests.
The statement also alleged that Israel Safo and some church elders attempted to organise a private installation ceremony despite the late founder’s directives.
“The family does not recognise any purported installation or assumption of leadership by Mr Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena,” the statement said.
The family further advised the public to exercise caution in any dealings that purport to represent the interests or assets of the Kristo Asafo Mission through Israel Safo.
The statement comes after a sh0oting incident involving Adwoa Safo at a property linked to her younger brother. Police have arrested six suspects and investigations are ongoing.
