I can’t speak to that – Adam Bonaa responds to claims about guns in Adwoa Safo’s car

Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Dr. Adam Bonaa, has declined to comment on claims that occupants of Sarah Adwoa Safo’s car may have been armed during the June 21 shooting incident in Kwabenya.

Speaking during a media discussion on the matter, Bonaa said it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions while investigations are ongoing.

“I can’t speak to that. The reason is because the entire issue is under investigations,” he said.

He explained that ballistic experts would be responsible for determining key details surrounding the exchange of gunfire.

“When a firearm is discharged, experts are supposed to go in to determine the direction from which the firearms were shot and examine gun powder residue,” he stated.

According to him, investigators have scientific methods available to establish whether weapons were discharged from a particular location.

“If firearms were discharged from the vehicle, ballistic experts will definitely be able to determine that. There are various mechanisms for determining that,” Bonaa added during an interview on TV3.

His comments come as police continue investigations into the incident, which resulted in injuries and the arrest of Israel Kwadwo Safo and two other suspects.
