GoldBod generated $10 billion from small-scale gold exports in 2025 – Deputy Finance Minister

Ghana earned about $10 billion from small-scale gold exports in 2025, according to Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, he said the performance of GoldBod has contributed significantly to the country’s foreign exchange earnings.

“The $10 billion was from the small-scale exports,” he said.

According to him, Ghana’s total export earnings stood at between $20 billion and $20.9 billion, with gold accounting for about 67 percent of the country’s export revenue.

“We have our export earnings to the tune of 20.9 billion dollars, which made for about 67% of our total export earnings as a country,” he stated.

Mr Ampem said the figures indicate a shift in Ghana’s economic structure.

“It tells us that we are moving from import dependent to export dependent as a country, using gold export alone,” he said.

He added that GoldBod’s operations are helping to bring export proceeds back into the economy.

“GoldBod establishment is doing wonders for our country,” he stated.
