Journalist cites Ghana’s youth team struggles under current GFA leadership after Black Stars’ exit

Ghanaian journalist Kwabena Bobie Ansah has questioned the leadership of Ghana football following the Black Stars’ elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Reacting after Ghana’s 1-0 Round of 32 defeat to Colombia, Bobie Ansah pointed to the performances of the country’s senior and youth national teams in recent years, arguing that the results warrant scrutiny of football administrators.

“Ghana U-17 National Team has never qualified for the World Cup since 2019. Ghana U-20 has also failed to qualify for the World Cup since 2015, recording three consecutive failures under Kurt Okraku,” he wrote.

He also noted that Ghana’s U-23 team has not qualified for the Olympic Games since 2004.

On the Black Stars, Bobie Ansah said the team has not progressed beyond the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations under the current Ghana Football Association administration until the ongoing World Cup, where Ghana reached the Round of 32.

“First time Ghana has gone past the group stage of any tournament since October 2019 is during this ongoing World Cup,” he stated.

The journalist also referenced the current football leadership structure, including GFA President Kurt Okraku and members of the Black Stars Management Committee, before questioning whether Ghana has capable football administrators.

“But the question still remains; do we have any competent and intelligent football handlers than these Messiahs? Nobody really cares,” he ended his post.
