Miracles Aboagye arrest: You are looting and you say table’s will turn – Kwaku Azar

Renowned academic Prof. Stephen Kwaku Asare, popularly known as Kwaku Azar, has questioned the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) response to the Economic and Organised Crime Office’s (EOCO) investigation into former Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation Executive Secretary Dennis Edward Aboagye, popularly known as Miracles.

In a social media post, Prof. Asare suggested that the focus should be on recovering any public funds found to have been misappropriated rather than discussing political consequences.

“EOCO says ₵55M has been looted. Your reaction isn’t, ‘Recover every pesewa.’ Rather, it’s, ‘One day the tables will turn.’ Wei! Da Yie!” he wrote.

His comments follow a statement by EOCO on Monday, July 13, announcing that it is investigating Mr. Aboagye and former accountant Gerald Appiah after a forensic audit and a petition from the current Executive Secretary of IMCCoD over alleged financial and procurement irregularities involving about GH¢55 million.

EOCO said the investigation covers suspected offences including conspiracy to steal and stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, defrauding by false pretences, money laundering, and other alleged offences.
