Miracles Aboagye should be taken to court, not subjected to “Rambo-style” arrest – Kodua

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, has criticised the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the party’s communications team member, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, calling on investigators to follow due process.

Speaking to the media outside the Economic and Organised Crime (EOCO) Office headquarters in Accra on Monday, July 13, Mr Kodua alleged that the governing National Democratic Congress was seeking to influence public opinion before any court proceedings.

“Part of the strategy of the NDC is public trial. Let’s throw things outside for people to think that, ‘Oh, he has committed a crime.’ That has been their model for branding. That has been their style,” he said.

Mr Kodua maintained that if investigators believe Mr Aboagye has committed an offence, the matter should be handled through the courts.

“If they feel that Miracles has committed any crime, the best approach is to arraign him before a court of competent jurisdiction, not this kind of Rambo-style behaviour, not this kind of archaic behaviour,” he said.

He also described the allegations against the former government official as “frivolous.”

“When you read the content of the letter, you will just laugh. This is a shame to our democracy,” he added.
