Power is transient – Kodua cautions govt over Miracles Aboagye investigation

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, has warned that political power is temporary as he criticised the investigation and arrest of Dennis Miracles Aboagye by the Economic and Organised Crime Office.

Addressing journalists outside EOCO’s headquarters in Accra, Mr Kodua urged political office holders to act with restraint.

“Power is transient. Remember that. Power is transient,” he said.

He argued that governments should avoid what he described as politically motivated investigations and suggested that future administrations could adopt the same approach if the current trend continues.

“Appointees of the NDC, after December 7, 2028, we’ll ask them to prepare their own charge sheet and bring it to us if that’s how we want to go,” he said.

Mr Kodua also questioned the basis of the allegations against Mr Aboagye.

“How do you relate an issue of a different person to Miracles Aboagye?” he asked.

His comments come after EOCO arrested Mr Aboagye as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial and procurement irregularities regarding the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation.
