NASPA reviews programme after personnel raise consultation concerns

The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has revealed that concerns over consultation with service personnel contributed to the decision to review its capacity-building programme.

The programme faced criticism after some national service personnel complained that they were not adequately consulted before a GHC60 deduction was made from their allowances.

NASPA National President Abdul-Wahab Bala Mohammed said the association engaged its newly elected regional executives and received feedback from personnel before deciding on the next steps.

“As concerns about the programme intensified, particularly regarding the deductions and the level of consultation, we took our time to engage our newly elected regional executives, receive feedback from service personnel, as well as carefully review the issues that had been raised,” he said.

Mr Mohammed said the engagements helped NASPA assess the concerns surrounding the programme’s implementation.

The association has since suspended the initiative pending further review and consideration of the issues raised.
